The Law Society of Singapore was established in 1967. The main purpose of the Law Society is to maintain and improve the standards of conduct and learning of the legal profession in Singapore and to represent, protect and assist members of the legal profession in Singapore. Moreover, the Society has for its function to protect and assist the public in Singapore in all matters touching on the law. The Society is managed by a Council of 15 elected persons and three members nominated to serve by the Minister of Law. The Council makes rules to regulate the practce and conduct of lawyers and considers complaints of misconduct against lawyers. |
